ORLANDO, FL – After a successful career as a top performer in the scientific world, Paulo Gouveia decided it was time to take control of his future. He began researching opportunities and learned of the franchise model through a LinkedIn connection. In partnership with his wife, Diana DePaolis, he acquired the southern Middlesex County Filta Environmental Kitchen Solutions territory and founded their company, PureRenew Plus Corporation, making their company both a minority owned and woman owned company.

Filta is a pioneer in fryer management and environmental kitchen sustainability, making commercial kitchens faster, cleaner, safer, and greener. By micro-filtering existing cooking oil, providing bin-free waste oil collection, deep cleaning fryers, and recycling waste oil, Filta helps its clients make adjustments to their operations in ways that benefit their teams as well as the larger environmental community.

Paulo utilizes his scientific knowledge and operations management expertise daily as the President of PureRenew Plus. “My background is in the sciences, so when I started looking into what I could do in terms of starting a business, I knew I wanted something environmentally impactful,” said Paulo. “Every time I help a company become even 1% more sustainable, it’s a meaningful change. That’s the biggest reason why I chose Filta.”

Paulo’s Filta franchise currently serves a territory west of Boston that includes many cities, including Waltham, Burlington, Somerville, Cambridge and Framingham. His technicians service major clients like Google, Dell, Oracle, Thermo Fisher, Sanofi and Whole Foods, along with numerous restaurants. Having lived or worked in nearly every town throughout his existing territory, Paulo knows the landscape well and is serving members of his own communities.

As he looks toward the future, Paulo says he’s equally interested in expanding his footprint and growing his impact as a business owner.

“In the corporate world, I never felt fully appreciated for my contributions. By starting my own company, I can build the business how I want it to be,” he said. “If you’re dedicated and a hard worker, you’re rewarded for it. You get a piece of the pie. I envision a company where employees have skin in the game; there’s profit sharing and employees can get equity. The bigger the company gets, the more I can do to give back.”

Nationwide, Filta’s customers range from single and chain restaurants to commercial kitchens inside hospitals, hotels, groceries, universities, casinos, business facilities, stadiums (NFL, NCAA, MLB, NHL) and more. Filta has recycled nearly one billion pounds of used cooking oil into biodiesel, significantly reducing the impact of waste fryer oil on the environment. For every gallon of biodiesel put into use, Filta prevents 16 pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere.
